BEAT Pain Approach – FAQs

How many sessions will I need and how much will it cost?

This is a hard one to answer as everyone is different.  It really depends on your pain, how long you’ve had pain, how much commitment you put in and many other factors.  Most people see significant improvements in their pain within 6 sessions.  Therefore the programme is 6 sessions spread out as much or as little as you want.  You may however need further help beyond that.

The BEAT Pain programme includes 6 sessions with me (one of which is a 1.5 hour initial assessment).  You will also get 6 weeks free access to my BEAT Pain Circle Membership.  The cost of all this is £700 which can either be paid up front or in 2 instalments of £350.

Sessions beyond the 6 included cost £75.

Find out more about the membership here.

What results can I expect from the BEAT pain programme?

While results vary from person to person, I track outcomes using validated questionnaires measuring nervous system sensitivity and inflammatory load.

Across clients who have completed the programme so far, there has been an average improvement of 45% in nervous system sensitivity and 64% reduction in inflammatory scores.

These changes are typically associated with reduced pain, fewer flare-ups, improved energy, better sleep and greater quality of life.

This is based on a growing dataset, and I continue to monitor outcomes as more clients complete the programme.

When will I have no pain?

This one varies from person to person, as it depends on the type of pain you have and how long you’ve been in pain for.  Some recover very quickly yet others take a bit longer.  You might not become totally pain free but using this approach will give you a better quality of life and live a life where fear of pain no longer exists.  You’ll understand your body better and learn what it is trying to tell you with its pain.  This in itself makes flares ups less frequent and gives you quality of life back.

What if I have other health issues, will this program still work for me?

Yes, but this depends on the other health issues you have. The BEAT pain program helps not only with pain but also with general well-being and health.  Please feel free to book a FREE consultation call and we can discuss together whether we think it’s suitable for you, as everyone is different. What I’ve found with previous clients, is that this guidance helps them live a healthier life in general and can often help other ailments too;  Their bloating reduced, headaches disappeared, energy improved, general aches got better, hair loss reduced, skin cleared up.

I’ve had a diagnosis of Osteoarthritis and have been told to reduce exercise.  Will the BEAT pain approach help me?

Yes, Osteoarthritis is an inflammatory condition where joints become inflamed and the BEAT pain approach has reduced inflammation in everyone.  You may have been told that you have “bone on bone” which can sound frightening and being told something like this can in fact make pain worse, because it increases our fear and causes you to stiffen up even more.  New science has actually shown that cartilage does repair and we need movement in order to encourage this to happen.  Instead of hearing “wear and tear”, we believe in “wear and repair” or “motion is lotion”.   A client joined the program with OA in her knees and ankles which was stopping her from leading an active lifestyle.  After 6 sessions her inflammation score reduced from 65 to just 26, she became pain free and went skiing straight afterwards.  The average reduction in inflammatory scores in all the BEAT Pain Clients is a 64% improvement.

I’ve been told my pain is due to structural damage.  How do I know if the BEAT pain approach help me?

The BEAT pain approach is really effective on Neuroplastic pain, but how do you know if you have Neuroplastic pain?  If you answer ‘yes’ to some or most of the questions below, then the chances are, you have Neuroplastic pain and that is good news because that means the BEAT approach can work.  I also have a blog about this in the wellness hub here.

Have you had your symptoms for longer than 3 months?

Do you feel frustrated that your doctor can’t seem to give you definitive answers?

Does your pain move about?

Does your pain increase and decrease for no apparent reason? Could it be linked to stress?

Would you describe yourself as highly self-critical; perfectionist; people pleaser or do you frequently put the needs of others ahead of your own?

In the last few weeks have you often felt little interest, or pleasure in doing things or have you felt down, depressed or hopeless?

Did your symptoms begin soon after a stressful event?

Is there science to back up the BEAT pain approach?

Yes.  The brain element of BEAT uses Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy which are both being proven to be more effective than CBT with Chronic Pain.  Watch this space as more and more science is coming out to support this.  Also the modern pain science supports that Pain Education in itself can reduce pain.  This is all such new science that isn’t yet being taught to doctors in medical schools.

It is also well researched that nervous system calming is associated with reduced inflammatory markers, which is very closely linked to pain.  In fact since BEAT pain launched in April 2024 we’ve been measuring inflammation and nervous system sensitisation both at the start of the programme and after 6 sessions.  Nervous system sensitisation is also very much linked to pain, anxiety and fatigue conditions.  The results indicated improvement in both these areas in every client.  Inflammation reduced by an average of 64% and nervous system sensitisation reduced by an average of 45%.

There is also continued science to back up the nutrition element of the BEAT Pain Approach in that what we eat directly impacts our inflammatory levels and inflammation impacts our pain.

  • Paying for Katie’s services has been without a doubt the best thing I could have done to support me with my pain journey.

Katie brings a wealth of experience to her consultations with you, however I feel the most important thing she brings is support, empathy and understanding. You do not feel alone with your symptoms, most importantly because she has been through her own chronic pain journey, which is the reason why I decided to work with her. She had been through it herself, she didn’t make silly promises, she just explained her history and the science behind it.
